New York man threatened to kill Yonkers mayor and police throughout St. Patrick’s Day parade, prosecutors say

A New York man was arrested on fees of allegedly threatening to kill the mayor of Yonkers and metropolis law enforcement officials at a St. Patrick’s Day parade, prosecutors stated.

Ridon Kola, 32, is accused of posting threatening messages on social media saying he would “slaughter” and “crucify” members of the Yonkers Police Division “all alongside” McLean Avenue, which is alongside the town’s parade route.

He was taken into custody Friday, sooner or later earlier than the parade, on fees of threatening interstate communications, based on the U.S. Lawyer for the Southern District of New York.

Kola allegedly began posting the messages in 2021, based on a legal criticism. In a Nov. 19, 2021 submit, he allegedly wrote a menace in Albanian that was translated to: “I’m going to slaughter you little ladies,” the criticism says.

The next month, he allegedly wrote that he was going to kill officers and mayor Mike Spano.

Investigators spoke with Kola in December 2021 at his house. The criticism says that he admitted to writing the messages however stated they weren’t critical and he had no plans to hurt officers or the mayor. Police searched his house however discovered no weapons.

Due to the threats, the police division issued a warning to officers “to train diligence and warning” when interacting with Kola.

Earlier this month, Kola allegedly began sending threatening messages once more, writing on March 6 that he was in search of an officer and would “burn the world” till he discovered him, based on the criticism.

In a March 9 message, Kola allegedly threatened to “crucify” police and their bosses “all alongside McLean ave,” the criticism states. “It is going to be a horror scene,” he allegedly stated.

Prosecutors stated that Kola lives in an space near the place the parade ends and that he had additionally posted an image of himself holding an ax.

U.S. Lawyer Damian Williams stated Kola’s actions wouldn’t be tolerated.

“Threatening violence in opposition to police or to undermine public security won’t be tolerated, as Kola now stands charged and faces jail time for his threats in opposition to our devoted regulation enforcement companions tasked with conserving us secure,” he stated in an announcement.
